A new wave of early-stage funding has opened for African founders, with R25 million in capital up for deployment through a series of exclusive pitch sessions taking place in Cape Town this November.
Driven by entrepreneur and investor Alexandria Procter, best known as the co-founder of DigsConnect and a collective of early-stage investors, the initiative aims to discover, fund, and accelerate Africa’s next standout startups across the continent.
“Africa’s founders are some of the most resourceful and driven people in the world,” says Procter. “They’re building solutions that matter and products that solve real problems in their own communities. We want to back that energy and help connect it to global capital.”

The selection team will be looking for founders who demonstrate a unique combination of talent, timing, and traction, individuals with a track record of excellence, unique insights in their sectors, and the resilience to execute through uncertainty.
Startups showing strong product love, user adoption, and customer obsession will stand out, while pre-revenue ventures with a compelling founding team and concept will also be considered.
Operational clarity will carry weight, including clean cap tables, clear IP ownership, strong financial management, and evidence of capital efficiency.
Focus Sectors and Investment Range
Investment sizes will range from R1 million to R10 million, depending on stage and traction. The program targets pre-seed, seed, and Series A startups in sectors driving Africa’s digital and economic transformation, including:
- Fintech
- SaaS (Software as a Service)
- Climate and Energy Innovation
- Mobility
- Digital Infrastructure
- New-Economy Platforms
For this round, HealthTech, AgTech, and other heavily regulated sectors will not be prioritized.
Procter adds, “Not every great African company needs to go global. There’s enormous value in ventures that scale across emerging markets and deliver real social impact where it’s most needed.”
