Jacaranda FM has confirmed the extension of its partnership with the Pretoria Capitals for a fourth consecutive year, continuing its role as the team’s official radio partner in the Betway SA20 league.
At face value, it’s a sponsorship renewal. In practice, it’s another signal of how sport, sound and storytelling continue to shape shared public culture in South Africa.

Since teaming up in 2023, Jacaranda FM has positioned itself as more than a broadcaster on the sidelines of the Betway SA20. Through live match coverage, exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes access, the station has helped translate the fast-paced theatre of T20 cricket into something listeners can feel, whether they’re in Gauteng traffic or tuning in from further afield. The Pretoria Capitals sit comfortably within Jacaranda FM’s long-standing commitment to local sport. The station has supported the Titans cricket team for over three decades and the Blue Bulls rugby team for more than 15 years. In that context, the Capitals are less a new addition and more a continuation of a philosophy: backing teams that foster loyalty, memory and collective excitement.

The Betway SA20 returns for its 25/26 season on Friday, 26 December, promising another summer of high-stakes cricket and marquee talent. As the tournament grows its national footprint, radio remains one of the most accessible ways to bring the game to fans, especially those for whom cricket is as much about the atmosphere as it is about scorecards.

“Our partnership with the Pretoria Capitals has been incredibly rewarding, and we’re thrilled to be entering our fourth year together,” says Jacaranda FM Managing Director Vuyani Dombo. “We believe in backing teams that unite fans and create memorable sporting moments.”

Dombo notes that T20 cricket, in particular, carries a unique cultural energy. “It brings people together in a powerful way. This collaboration allows us to connect with fans more deeply — sharing the passion, the feel-good energy of the Betway SA20, and inspiring the next generation of cricket lovers.”
For the Capitals, the relationship is equally intentional. “Jacaranda FM has become an integral part of our SA20 journey,” says Karan Yadav, Chief Commercial Officer of JSW Sports and the Pretoria Capitals. “Their ability to connect communities through sport, music and storytelling aligns with what we’re building.”

As preparations ramp up for the upcoming season, Jacaranda FM will once again serve as a sonic bridge between the stands and the streets,  reminding listeners that sport doesn’t only live in stadiums, but in the stories we tell about it. For fans, the invitation is simple: tune in, listen closely, and be part of the moment.
