There’s a new web series on the way, and while we don’t fully know what Vat-en-Sit is yet, we know this much: it feels like something to be invested in.

After noticing a LinkedIn post from Sihle Siyabonga Mthembu, one can’t help but be curious to see more because from the character roll-out alone, there’s texture to what’s coming. A loveable almost-comedian chasing punchlines and peace from a couch. A sharp-tongued truth-teller still living with her ex. A wellness baddie balancing chakras and chaos. A proud Zulu man negotiating modern love, therapy talk, and meatless Mondays. It’s funny. It’s familiar. It sounds like people we actually know.

And maybe that’s the point.
In a digital landscape where so much content feels engineered, the future web series, Vat-en-Sit reads like it understands its world. The tone is self-aware. The anticipated humour seems local without trying too hard. It’s rooted in a very now, very South African reality, umjolo complications, ambition without resources, healing and pettiness, but most of all, living in the same house.

We’re not entirely sure what shape the full series will take. Sitcom? Soft satire? Relationship chaos with depth? But that uncertainty is part of the intrigue. It suggests room to experiment, something our web space needs more of.

If this is the energy Auteur Studios is bringing, then we’re paying attention. And in us paying attention, we stand on business: We don’t know exactly what Vat-en-Sit is yet, but we will be there when it arrives…
