South Africa’s business media landscape has another editorial appointment worth noting, with Shaun Jacobs promoted to Deputy Editor of Daily Investor, taking on a greater role in shaping the publication’s editorial direction.

Jacobs joined Daily Investor as a journalist after completing his Bachelor’s and Honours degrees at the University of Cape Town, where he also received a UCT Council Honours Merit Award. Since then, his work has contributed to a publication that has grown into an influential voice in South African finance and investment reporting, reaching around two million readers each month, according to Daily Investor.

That growth sits within a publication focused on the machinery behind the economy, from listed companies and financial markets to macroeconomic policy and business news. Its Smart Money with Alishia Seckam podcast has also expanded the publication’s editorial footprint, creating a platform for conversations with business leaders and industry figures.

For Broad Media CCO Kevin Lancaster, Jacobs’ promotion reflects more than good journalism. Lancaster describes him as a journalist with strong insight into the business and financial sectors, noting that his progression through the publication has been driven by the quality of his work and his commitment to journalism. As Deputy Editor, Jacobs will now join the management team responsible for the strategy and direction of Daily Investor, moving from reporting on the business world to having a hand in shaping how that world is covered.
